In 2018, during the 34th Annual International Believers Fellowship (IBF), four faith-filled women of God spoke from the theme: “Women, The Preservers Of Life,” expounding on four biblical women whose memorable actions impacted others in a significant way. Read the list to discover their present day perspective based on the memorable actions of these biblical women: Jochebed, Rizpah, Jehosepeba, and A Little Maid. The 34th Annual International Believers Fellowship (IBF) was a 3-day event held at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel & Waterfront Conference Center in Portsmouth, VA. Jochebed![]() Pastor Dorothy Ligon spoke on Moses’ mother Jochebed from the subject: “A Deposit in the Bank.” Her scripture reference was Exodus 2:3 and she shared the following highlights:
(Exodus 2:3) But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. Rizpah![]() Pastor Viola Brown spoke on Saul’s concubine Rizpah from the subject: “Beat Away the Vultures.” Her scripture reference was 2 Samuel 21:10. Seven of Saul’s male descendants were given to the Gibeonites, who killed them and exposed their bodies on a hill before the Lord to make atonement and end a three year famine. The bones of Saul’s sons got a proper burial due to Rizpah. Rizpah protected her two sons and the five sons of Saul’s daughter Merab until David had the bones gathered up after hearing what she had done. Women see the potential, the keepers, and that things will get better. (2 Samuel 21:10) Rizpah daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest till the rain poured down from the heavens on the bodies, she did not let the birds touch them by day or the wild animals by night. Jehosheba![]() Evangelist Cynthia Hendricks spoke on Joash’s aunt Jehosheba from the subject: “Coming Out of the Closet.” Her scripture reference was 2 Kings 11:1-3 and she shared the following highlights:
(2 Kings 11:1-3) When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family. 2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram[a] and sister of Ahaziah, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes, who were about to be murdered. She put him and his nurse in a bedroom to hide him from Athaliah; so he was not killed. 3 He remained hidden with his nurse at the temple of the Lord for six years while Athaliah ruled the land. A Little Maid ![]() Min. Vernanda McKnight spoke on the maid of Naaman’s wife from the subject: “A Maid Made It Happen.” Her scripture reference was 2 Kings 5:1-6, 10-11 and she shared the following highlights:
2 Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. 3 She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.” 4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said. 5 “By all means, go,” the king of Aram replied. “I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.” 10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.” 11 But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. |
