Four Biblical Women Who Impacted Others Significantly

In 2018, during the 34th Annual International Believers Fellowship (IBF), four faith-filled women of God spoke from the theme: “Women, The Preservers Of Life,” expounding on four biblical women whose memorable actions impacted others in a significant way. Read the list to discover their present day perspective based on the memorable actions of these biblical women: Jochebed, Rizpah, Jehosepeba, and A Little Maid.

The 34th Annual International Believers Fellowship (IBF) was a 3-day event held at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel & Waterfront Conference Center in Portsmouth, VA.

Jochebed

Picture
Pastor Dorothy Ligon spoke on Moses’ mother Jochebed from the subject: “A Deposit in the Bank.” Her scripture reference was Exodus 2:3 and she shared the following highlights:
  • Jochebed hid Moses for three months, which was an awesome feat because babies cry.
  • Moses cry was anointed and touched the heart of Pharaoh’s daughter.
  • Jochebed birthed three great children: Aaron, Miriam and Moses.
  • Moses was lovely, a goodly child chosen by God.
  • God is for mothers, the protectors of human life.
  • A mother is a dangerous thing. She possesses the tenacity of a pit bull. Do not mess with the children, the future.
  • It’s not about your beginning; it’s about your ending.
  • God is able. Never give up on your children.
  • Women are strongly attacked, sexually assaulted, and molested throughout life because they are the only legal channel to this life and the devil don’t like it.
  • The devil can delay, but not stop the will of God. God’s will be done.

(Exodus 2:3) But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile.

Rizpah

Picture
Pastor Viola Brown spoke on Saul’s concubine Rizpah from the subject: “Beat Away the Vultures.” Her scripture reference was 2 Samuel 21:10.

Seven of Saul’s male descendants were given to the Gibeonites, who killed them and exposed their bodies on a hill before the Lord to make atonement and end a three year famine.

The bones of Saul’s sons got a proper burial due to Rizpah. Rizpah protected her two sons and the five sons of Saul’s daughter Merab until David had the bones gathered up after hearing what she had done. Women see the potential, the keepers, and that things will get better.

(2 Samuel 21:10) Rizpah daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest till the rain poured down from the heavens on the bodies, she did not let the birds touch them by day or the wild animals by night.

Jehosheba

Picture
Evangelist Cynthia Hendricks spoke on Joash’s aunt Jehosheba from the subject: “Coming Out of the Closet.” Her scripture reference was 2 Kings 11:1-3 and she shared the following highlights:
  • Jehosheba stole Joash away so that he was not killed with the royal heirs and hid him for six years while Athalia reigned over the land.
  • God can protect us and hide us away in broad daylight. God preserves who He wants.
  • Six is the number of man, God created man on the sixth day.
  • It takes a man to raise a man.
  • In the seventh year of completion, Jehoiada sent for the mighty men to go to Joash and covenant with him to protect him and show him a true king.
  • We all have an Athalia in our lives, but we also have a Jehosheba and a God to protect, provide and preserve.

(2 Kings 11:1-3) When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family. 2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram[a] and sister of Ahaziah, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes, who were about to be murdered. She put him and his nurse in a bedroom to hide him from Athaliah; so he was not killed. 3 He remained hidden with his nurse at the temple of the Lord for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.

A Little Maid

Picture
Min. Vernanda McKnight spoke on the maid of Naaman’s wife from the subject: “A Maid Made It Happen.” Her scripture reference was 2 Kings 5:1-6, 10-11 and she shared the following highlights:
  • The maid was nameless, but vital to the healing of Naaman.
  • Some of us need to start out at the bottom and serve our way to the top.
  • God’s word is true and does what it was sent to do.
  • It’s the assignment that brings deliverance, not position.
  • Until we come humble as a little child on assignment, we are not doing the work of God.

(2 Kings 5:1-6, 10-11) Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.
2 Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. 3 She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”
4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said. 5 “By all means, go,” the king of Aram replied. “I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.”
10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.”
11 But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.
