Four Abundance Now Introduction Insights

Yesterday, I read the Foreword and Introduction to Lisa Nichol's "Abundance Now: Amplify Your Life & Achieve Prosperity Today" for the Authorpreneur Network Facebook group Book Club. I received the following insights from four of Lisa's statements and experiences that resonated with me.

Overcoming Dark Days

Lisa mentions that during the dark days of needing public assistance and the imprisonment of her son’s father, abundance and prosperity seemed very far away. But she discovered a resilience – and a perspective – that carried her through.

Her experience brought to mind challenges I endured when I resigned from my Policies and Procedures writing job to pursue full-time ministry without a clue of what that would look like or how I would sustain myself after my 401K monies ran out. I also had to apply for public assistance and ended up moving back to my childhood home in lieu of being evicted from my apartment. I had to resurrect and reflect on God’s promise and call on my life; remember why I stepped out in faith; and then walk it out. I’ve come a long way since then, but am still discovering my way towards building a sustainable and profitable ministry/business.

The Third E - Engagement

​One of the things I was missing in my self-employment transition is the third of the 4 Es – the "Engagement" you get from your Work. I did not know the concept of “treating your job or career as a major investor in your future.” At the time I had enjoyed my corporate position, getting paid to do what I loved and was gifted at. My technical writing job had been created for me and the perks and benefits were great, but my employers refused to let me work some days from home and their office politics were becoming distasteful. However, had I known about the unique approach of Engagement, I would have stayed longer and put an exit strategy in place.

Life is Not Short

​Another statement that struck me and shifted my perspective is “Life is not short. You have time to build substantial financial wealth while enjoying a prosperous attitude and the joy of amassing non-monetary riches.” How many of us hear and are used to saying, “Life is short”? I won’t be saying that anymore or I will cancel that statement if it should slip out from force of habit. I decree and declare that I have time enough to do what needs to be done to achieve what I desire when I choose to eliminate the distractions, focus on my goals, and take intentional action steps to reach them.

Creating a New Reality

And finally, Lisa’s declaration that Abundance Now “will show you how to bring to life the unspoken desires of your heart and the unvoiced thoughts of your mind – using clear, practical steps for turning these thoughts and desires into a new reality.”  This resonated with me because for years I was reluctant to share my truest heart’s desire. I’d heard many “Gurus” saying, Dream Big!” “If you’re dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not be enough.” However, ever since I was a teenager, my heart’s desire was to be a wife. To go through this earthbound journey with a partner who would support me in ministry and life.

Yet, when I did get married, it was because I hadn’t been satisfied being single. I disobeyed God’s instruction to WAIT, and then I didn’t know how to NOT go through with it when I realized I was making a mistake. So, even though my heart’s desire is to enlighten, educate, encourage, and empower entrepreneurs in professionalizing their online image and publishing their story, message or collection, I desire to do that with my husband by my side.

Reading through Abundance Now with the Authorpreneur Network group will empower me to clearly speak my desires and voice my thoughts while applying practical steps that will create my desired new and increasingly abundant reality.
